SUMMER 2022 TRENDS YOU’LL ACTUALLY WEAR
Estimated reading time: 8 minutes

Whether you plan on buying, thrifting, or digging out your closet for the new season styles, here are our top five 2022 fashion trends you’ll actually wear all summer.

1. Gingham
Just like what happened to stripes and polka dots last season, gingham is having a major moment in everyone’s 2022 wardrobe. The pattern is simple, gentle, and playful. It may exude childlike innocence but the correct styling can turn your wildest checkered fantasies into modern, full-fledged statements..
Gingham’s allure goes far beyond picnic vibes. Matching sets will elevate the cutesy energy to another level. Try a full two-piece set in a magnified gingham print, or combine different color patterns for a more interesting take on this classic. .
Dare to mix gingham with other clashing patterns, especially with the help of accessories. Just choose a common element to tie everything together.

2. Linen
The rebirth of this natural fabric might be today’s most anticipated comeback in the fashion realm. After years of boring silhouettes and endless references to what dads wear on vacation, linen is now the go-to material among fashion connoisseurs, from editors to content creators.
The strength and durability of this natural fiber make it a far better option than its cotton counterpart. Not to mention, the lower environmental impact that linen clothing takes to produce.
From the high street to high fashion, linen has made its way into shirts, pants, dresses, knits, accessories, loungewear, and footwear. Its breathability allows air to flow easily and its structure wicks away moisture from your skin making it the best fabric to wear in hot weather. On top of it all, linen is naturally insect repellent, odor-resistant, antibacterial, and hypoallergenic.
Nowadays, you can find a deep offering of soft linen fashions. Why not wear a black linen front-tie shirt with an easy pair of cropped, straight-leg pants in ecru to stroll around town? The classic mix will make you look (and feel) luxurious.

3. Babydoll Top
No. You didn’t just travel back in time overnight and woke up in 2004, again. (Thank God!) It’s just that Gen Z’s obsession with Millennial teen fashion is gaining momentum by the minute.
Remember those days when you’d wear a denim mini skirt, a billowy babydoll top, the tightest pastel hoodie, and an upbeat puka shell necklace? Well, it seems like they’re back—well, half back.
Styling this 2000s tween staple correctly is super important to fit into the New Roaring Twenties. If you don’t want to end up looking like your middle-school yearbook, wear a babydoll top with a pair of long wide-leg pants in the same color family to elongate your figure and balance out the oversized proportions around your waist. Low-rise baggy jeans will also do the trick! You’ll look edgy and effortlessly modern.
At all costs, avoid pairing a babydoll top with fitted bottoms as it will outdate your entire look. Instead, opt for shorts if you’re petite and need to break up the floaty volume to work with your frame. An ultra-feminine babydoll dress is also a good idea especially if you’re planning a beach getaway.

4. Cool Shades
We’ve talked so much about green before and it's 15 minutes (more like months) of fame in the interior design world. Sometimes— if not, all the time, because #WFH —interiors and fashion trends run into each other.
Citrine, chartreuse, lime. These vibrant juicy colors are this summer’s new black. Not into green? Frost yourself in icy shades of baby blue or acid-bright yellow. If you’re lost and can’t decide which color to make your own this season, we propose matching your look to your 5 pm summer cocktail.
When a color trend rises to the stratosphere, the bolder you dive into it, the better. Squeeze the life out of your lemony options: bags, shoes, nail polish… There are endless options for you to incorporate trends into your wardrobe.

5. You Do You!
Last, but certainly not least, is the trend that fits everyone: it is inclusive, fun, and one that comes without any set of rules to follow. While it’s fun to dip our toes in new fashion trends, the biggest shift we’ve seen in fashion calls for embracing our truest selves. Dressing in what makes us feel the happiest and the most confident, upstages any popular style craze.
Dubbed dopamine dressing, this trend was heavily popularized by the turn of 2020, but its feel-good essence keeps making big waves in 2022. It is commonly thought of as dressing in vibrant colors, but its message speaks of genuine self-expression and joyful ways of dressing beyond the parameters of sartorial obsessions. So go ahead and have fun this summer! After all, injecting joy into your wardrobe is what fashion is all about!
